Fanfic: Forever Diamonds

Just a quick and dirty slightly-over-drabble about that one concept art of Venom Snake with the diamond earring. Wanted to write this scenario for a while, as well as get more used to writing shorter fics, so here you go.

There it sat, in the centre of a closed autoclave in the medbay. A memento of the Diamond Dogs who died voiceless and suffering, yet not without honour.

Carefully opening the unlocked door, Venom Snake removed the diamond earring from the autoclave, along with the hollow needle that sat beside it. Setting aside the earring on a freshly-cleaned surface, he took hold of his ear with one hand and pushed the needle through with the other, gritting his teeth in mild discomfort.

Staring into the mirror, he placed the jewel through the freshly-created perforation, a wave of sorrow mixed with reverence washing over him as he realized he’d be taking his comrades out into the field like this for a while – forever, even.
